Trouble Shooting Tips (App not working or not connecting, how to reach out for tech support)

There are a number of scenarios which may cause issues with your Control4 App. Here are a few and their resolutions.

1. Check WiFi: If you are using a mobile device you would want to verify your device is connected to the home’s WiFi network. If not you may receive a message stating that you need a 4-Sight subscription and to call your dealer. The primary way the App communicates with the system is through WiFi, so whenever possible you would want this connection. A 4-Sight subscription will give you access to your system when you are away from your home network. This is especially useful when you want to check cameras, or let someone in by unlocking a door and disarming the alarm. This can also be utilized when your WiFi connection is not strong in certain parts of the house or outside around the house.

2. Locked up Device: Sometimes your phone, tablet, or touch panel can lock up causing problems with the App. If this happens try to close and re-open the App. If that does not work you may need to power cycle the device by shutting it all the way off, waiting 2-3 min and turning it back on. This resolves most issues.

3. Deleting or Adding a Project Instance: In some more rare cases there is something wrong with the project instance within the App. If this is the case follow these steps:
1. Click past any messages and select either the Settings Button or if you are already seeing the Systems Page select the small arrow to the far right of your project name.
2. Press the Edit button at the top right.
3. Scroll down to the bottom and press the delete button, then confirm.
4. You will then be back on the Systems Page and will select the + button at the top right.
5. Click Next and Enter your system Information
6. System Name is generic and can be named anything you like.
7. Enter your e-mail address used when you registered your Control4 account and password given to you by Tech Guide.
8. Press Next and your App will find the system and download settings.

4. App Corruption: We have seen a few occasions where the App itself is corrupted. In this case you will delete the app completely and re-download from the App Store. Follow the instructions for adding a project to the App to reconfigure your system.
