Power Cycling Components (Cable Boxes, Processors, Modems, Routers, etc…)
There are occasions when one or more of your components will get locked up and need to be power cycled. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with the component just some process either hardware or software related has gotten hung up and can only be fixed by removing power for a moment and then re-powering, hence rebooting the device. This can happen with nearly any component but typically effects Cable Boxes, Processors, Modems, Routers, Computers, and Mobile Devices.
This process will fix 90% of all problems experienced. It is important not to power cycle every component arbitrarily each time there is an issue. This prevents us from focusing in on the root issue or specific device causing the problem. Targeted power cycling allows us to see if a specific device in a multi component system is experiencing more than normal issues. If you find yourself power cycling something each day or each week then there may be something more fundamentally wrong with your component and it would need to be assessed and then repaired or replaced.
